The 2021 show is nearly upon us, it has been quite a roller coaster ride during the past eighteen months with the pandemic and having to cancel the 2020 show, we were determined to have some sort of event this year but timing was not on our side as we were unable to organise a full show, it was decided to go back to our roots and offer a free event the Centre of the town to thank everyone for the support that you have given, not just through the pandemic but since the creation of the show in 1831.
We offer a very big thank you to our sponsors without whom we would be struggling to fund this year’s event, and also to Somerset West and Taunton Council who’s support has been invaluable in ensuring that we have all the correct policies and procedures in place to ensure ours and the general public’s safety, also to Vikki and Emma our Show office team who have spent many hours putting everything together for this year’s show.
At the Show there will be two main areas, firstly a competition tent on the grass area of Castle Green and secondly a trader’s area on the hard standing in front of the Museum, and down through Castle Bow concentrating on floriculture and horticulture which is the main theme for this year’s show.
For 2022 it is our intention to have a full show on Vivary Park by which time we hope the major concerns of the pandemic will be over and we can return to some sort of normality. For this year we would encourage everyone to continue with the socially acceptable safety measures of social distancing and mask wearing where appropriate and the use of hand sanitising.
We look forward to seeing you at this year’s event and hope you enjoy what we have organised. If you wish to enter any of the floricultural classes or have children or grandchildren, we are running a number of child classes all of which can be found in our 2021 Competition Schedule which is available online at our website www.tauntonfs.co.uk or you can contact the Show office for a hard copy which are also available at Monkton Elm and Otter Garden Centre’s in Taunton or from the Taunton Visitor Centre at the Market house in the Centre of Taunton.
